Villa Details
Villa Hariett accommodates totally 12 persons in 6 bedrooms. The main house is built with grey marbles and it is one of the historic houses of Hydra, situated in a secluded Bay three miles from the main harbor of the cosmopolitan island.
The building complex is atop a 40-meter rock lift directly above the sea, on a 4, 3 acres fenced private land. The view to the sea is undisturbed to all sea directions. The Southern side is situated in the pinewoods.
The tower shaped central house is built in 1891.
The first floor includes a double Queen Size bedroom with its own bathroom in the corridor and 270-degrees view to the sea. The second room has two single beds, its own en – suite bathroom and a veranda with panoramic views of the sea.
The ground floor, one meter (3 feet) above the ground, provides a lounge with fireplace, an office room, two Queen Size double bedrooms, both with their own en – suite bathrooms.
All rooms and the lounge, have a unique view to the sea and the pine forest. Almost all materials are original. Restoration was done only when necessary with similar material and color.
Inside the fenced area: An ample, completely equipped kitchen and an extra bathroom with shower. A little higher in the private area, inside the pinewood forest is a traditional Greek island house with two rooms communicating between them with an interior door and a bathroom to share. The first room has a double King Size built bed. The second room has two single beds (convertible to one King Size Double) and the door to the common (en -suite for the second room) bathroom. The rooms also have separate exterior doors if residents would prefer privacy between rooms interior door. Fantastic views of the sea and forest through a super large window. It also includes a private veranda of its own, with superb sea and pine trees view.
At the edge of the Towers’ Western ground veranda, overlooking the sea is the “infinity” swimming pool, rather unique, due to its location.
Cars are forbidden on the island of Hydra. The beach rarely hosts other visitors. The distance to the beach is about 150 meters via our private house path which connects the complex with the shore and our small mooring, (capable for small boats upto to 8 meters LOA).
During the fall of 1904, King George I of Greece was hosted here on a hunting excursion, as well as the Prime Minister El. Venizelos in 1917. The best-selling author and movie script writer Jack Higgins described the villa and its views in his novel “Solo” (1980) as the home-haven of rest of his protagonist pianist.
