What to do

Porto Heli is a small town, in the peninsula of Argolida, in the eastern Peloponnese that comes alive in summer. Most festivals and events are held that time, but some other happenings also take place round the year. Its safe famous harbor, its usual sunshining days and the traditional greek fish beachfront taverns are the reasons that make the traveler consider it as a top destination. The location is convenient for road trips to Ancient Epidaurus(the ancient Theatre), Poros, Ermioni and Nafplion. The small port of Costa ,close to Porto Heli, connects the Peloponnese with the Saronic islands with its daily frequent boat routes. The ride to famous Spetses island is only 10 minutes ride, if you desire to leave the tranquility of your villa and enjoy the local unlimited nightlife!

Activities in Porto Heli

The Easter celebrations in Porto Heli are worth to visit. On Easter Sunday in the evening, an interesting custom takes place in Porto Heli: the burning of Judas. The International Culture Festival of Porto Heli takes place in July and August at the Manessis Estate, a private estate above the sea of Port Heli. It includes musical performances, art exhibitions and workshops. Don’t miss the opportunity also to visit the caves at Didyma(twins), that are not actually caves but dolines with interesting features. You can walk through the goat foothpath enjoying the nature until you see the biggest ‘cave’ among the two.

The beaches of Porto Heli are famous for their crystal water and the quiet relaxing atmosphere they offer. The protected gulfs make it a great location for water skiing and wake board ! Being in such a wonderful Greek location you feel tempted to go fishing with the traditional boats that there are on their usual moorings on the port. Every two years, the (Naftiki Evdomada) Marine Week is organised with a variety of competitions; sailing, windsurfing, water skiing as well as water polo. The events take place in July and after awarding the winners, a big celebration follows where you can get a chance to interact and meet with the friendly locals! Additionally, Porto Heli Scuba Club offers underwater adventures to the fans of scuba diving and snorkeling!

Don’t miss the opportunity to spend your day near to wonderful beaches such as Hinitsa beach, Saint Emilianos and Ververonda beach.

Hinitsa tavern

Hinitsa tavern (+30 27540 57245) A seafront Porto Heli’s tavern with traditional greek food. Try to visit it around sunset, best time to get a table before the place gets full with regulars.


Papadias (+30 27540 52342) One of the oldest greek traditional taverns in Porto Heli , it has opened his doors since 1958. Enjoy its homemade secret recipes cooked only with fresh ingredients.


Orloff (+30 22980 75255) This lovely restaurant is located right at the entrance of the Old Harbor of Spetses and has opened his doors as Orloff since 1991. It became the locals favorite with its marble cute outdoor tables that offer great view.
